Jackman and Steingard, a former criminal prosecutor in Brooklyn, co-founded Laughing Man in 2011 with a venture to assist coffee-farming communities “by investing in programs that clear the way to health, increase, and fulfillment for coffee farmers and their households.” The concept for guffawing guy came from Jackman’s 2009 experience in Ethiopia, in which the actor met an espresso farmer named Dukale, who become struggling to raise his own family out of poverty.
Inspired using Dukale’s story, Jackman opened Laughing Man Coffee in New York City, a mission that increased into a foundation that still presents university scholarships and housing upgrades for espresso farmers and their families in growing countries.
