It is nearly time to start supper. I’m debating what we will make tonight. I’ll ask the youngsters for recommendations. Sometimes that makes it simpler!

Lovina's Amish Kitchen: Kids assist when Mom’s menu thoughts run low 1
Last night we got here home overdue after assisting at daughter Elizabeth and Tim’s residence. Loretta grilled hamburgers and potatoes at the gas grill so that changed into a clean supper. It’s nice to have frozen hamburger patties from butchering ultimate winter. When you need to take beef from the freezer to the grill, it’s brief and smooth. We had lettuce and inexperienced onions from the garden to devour with the hamburgers.
I actually have masses of leaf lettuce ready inside the lawn. I would love to reduce it and wash it to serve with lunch at Tim and Elizabeth’s house on Sunday. They are web hosting church offerings, with a purpose to be held under a tent.

Last Friday, sister Emma and her daughters Elizabeth and Emma and infant Jessica, daughter Susan and Jennifer, and my daughters and I assisted daughter Elizabeth together with her paintings. A lot become finished. My daughters and I will pass help a few more days this week.

Elizabeth could have her 25th birthday on June 14. It’s hard to consider our firstborn has reached 25! We desire her many greater satisfied, healthy years. Her two little ones maintain her busy. Abigail is a touch busybody and says she is child Timothy’s huge sister. Jennifer loves to go lie down on Abigail’s bed whilst we’re all there. It is a wooden infant bed with facet rails. One day even as we were cleaning, Jennifer fell asleep on Abigail’s mattress. Abigail didn’t care to peer Jennifer sound asleep in her bed! Mose and Susan hope to get a toddler mattress for Jennifer. She likes the concept that she can get out using herself. Her crib is simply too penned in for her! It appears the grandchildren develop so speedy and analyze new matters as they become old.

When I think of the Michigan family that misplaced their 6-12 months-vintage daughter and 4- and a couple of of-year-antique sons in the recent buggy accident, my coronary heartaches. Such smooth candy a while. Our sympathy goes to the mother and father as they grieve for his or her three youngsters. May God help them thru this tragedy and assist them in delivering the adjustments in their lives. We desire a whole and rapid recovery for the mother and three-12 months old. Although I do now not individually know them, they’re a remote household of ours. Their names are in our own family file e-book. God makes no mistakes.

I am taking son Kevin to remedy twice a week. This is to assist with the surgical procedures he had. After he learns how to do the sports here at domestic, he can end going to remedy.
Farmers are taking gain of the climate to get plants out, and hay put in. We had a moist and funky spring. My husband Joe and son Joseph finished planting our garden on Saturday. The rains helped what turned into planted already to develop. However, it seems like it will likely be a later season.

After I began penning this afternoon, Verena began a hamburger-potato skillet cooking on the range for our supper. She layers hamburger, onions, shredded potatoes, and cream of mushroom soup (without milk added). You cover the skillet and allow all to prepare dinner on low till the potatoes are soft, then add cheese of your choice on pinnacle and allow it to melt. Season the potatoes before cooking. It’s a brief, easy meal.
Fry and drain floor beef and onions. Add ketchup, water, brown sugar, chili powder, and mustard. Simmer for five minutes. Set apart and hold warm.Cook, mash, and season potatoes to flavor (or use leftover mashed potatoes). Spread in a cake pan and cowl with meat aggregate. Top with cheese. Drizzle ranch dressing over the top. Bake at 350 levels till warm.
