Dr. William Li has been on the leading edge of these studies, dedicating himself to converging the medical and nutrition fields to beat chronic sickness. Li stocks his leap forward studies in stopping and treating disorders by ingesting healthful food in his e-book, Eat to Beat Disease: The New Science of How Your Body Can Heal Itself, praised by way of renowned health professionals around the world.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes: Benefits, Nutrition, and Facts

There are some issues with the fitness advantages of tomatoes (thanks, Tom Brady), but Dr. Li says tomatoes are a massive part of preventing ailments. This is due to an antioxidant known as lycopene, which does much more than provide tomatoes with bright pink coloration. Dozens of studies have discovered lycopene’s effectiveness in combating most cancers-combating residences, most notably in cancers of the stomach, prostate, and lungs. There is also proof that lycopene can lessen our chances of colorectal and breast cancers—the maximum most common cancers in American men and women, respectively.

But not all tomatoes are created equal in terms of lycopene content! Li says he constantly reaches for San Marzano or cherry tomatoes in the marketplace because they are the biggest lycopene punch while cooked. Of course, you can also get a lot of bang for your buck with canned tomatoes—preferably organic.
Regarding uncooked tomatoes, Li says to look for the tangerine range—named for its orange color—as these babies don’t need to be cooked to give you the lycopene boost you need. Consuming the equivalent of a half-cup serving of tomato sauce numerous times every week is all you need to begin reaping the benefits.

Tree Nuts

Tree Nut Allergy List: Symptoms, Eating Out, Risk Factors

Tree nuts like cashews and almonds have become popular recently. However, Li wants you to pay special attention to walnuts. Li says walnuts are excellent for combating most cancers due to their omega-3 and fiber content.
Omega-3 fats are recognized for their anti-inflammatory properties, important for staving off sickness. Fiber’s position as a prebiotic—the food for our beneficial intestinal bacteria—is essential to most cancer prevention. Li says the microbiome controls our immune system, healing our body and mind health.
Li advises shopping for walnuts, both raw and lightly salted, and in case you need an extra taste, you may make your spice blend at domestic that isn’t so excessive in sodium or sugar as what you can find at the grocery store. He eats a handful nearly every day to get the omega-3s he needs and is on the path to help fight off cancer!

Soy

What is soy milk and is it good for you? - Healthy Food Guide

Soy is quite hotly debated, as many accept that soy’s phytoestrogens can be a factor in the development of breast cancer. However, Li says soy is useful for most cancer prevention and treatment, nd there is na lot of research to back this declaration defined that human estrogen is massively one of a kind from plant estrogen, as plant estrogen is thousands of times weaker than the sort produced in our bodies. He says that soy can surely reduce cancer cells and prevent cancer growth. Also, soybeans are complete with plant protein, fiber, iron, and magnesium. Now that’s a superfood worth its title!

RELATED: Why You Should Be Eating More Soy—Yes, Really
Li says all you need to begin reaping the most cancer-fighting benefits is just 10g of soy every day, equivalent to a cup of soy milk. He advises opting for healthier, less-processed sorts of soy, including edamame, tofu, tempeh, and soy milk, instead of “vegan junk meals” like plant-primarily based cheeses and saturated fats, weight-down burgers.

We all understand green tea is healthy, but few folks realize why. Li says inexperienced tea is loaded with antioxidants, boosts our immunity, strengthens our microbiome, and enables cancer combat. Matcha is, in particular, an idea that is even more effective. Because it’s grown in the shade, matcha has a brilliant, inexperienced color (from its better tiers of chlorophyll and elevated degrees of the amino acid L-Theanine). There were strong associations linking matcha consumption to most cancer prevention.
Incorporating green tea into your routine is as simple as changing from espresso at some point in your mid-day stop or including a teaspoon of matcha into your morning smoothie. Li liquids 2-3 cups of green tea in the afternoon to obtain the total benefits.

Purple Potatoes

Purple Mashed Potatoes

Anthocyanins are the antioxidants that give purple potatoes their jewel-tone hue and feature some critical cancer-preventing powers. Anthocyanins are anti-angiogenic, which reduces the increase of most cancer stem cells and prevents them from spreading in some point in our bodies.
Anthocyanins also have anti-inflammatory properties and help adjust the genes that are liable for mobile mutation and tumor growth. Most of the research conducted on anthocyanins is about skin and gastrointestinal cancers and diseases. Try swapping white or candy potatoes for pink potatoes (while you could discover them) once or twice every week, or integrate all your preferred potato types into a multicolor potato salad.

1-Day Cancer-Fighting Meal Plan

Luckily, it feels like eating to overcome a disorder can be pretty tasty! Li is a huge proponent of vitamin schooling to make healthful eating choices less out of worry and more out of empowerment. So here’s a delicious one-day meal plan for incorporating those five superfoods into your eating regimen.
