WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S. — The Consumer Price Index for baked meals and cereal products rose 0.4% in May, in step with the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor. The index for all meals at domestic also accelerated, growing by 1%.
Of the 18 objects accompanying Milling & Baking News, a sister guide of World Grain, 11 posted month-over-month gains, six finished lower, and one was unchanged. The May index for cereals and bakery products produced earlier than seasonal adjustment was 277. Eight of the 1982-eighty-four commons, up 2.1% from a year ago. Under this heading, the CPI for white bread turned into 333.1, down zero, 2% from April, however up 2.Four from May 2018. The index was 360, up 0.3% from April and up 3.1% from a year ago for bread other than white.
The rate index for clean biscuits, rolls, and desserts in May changed to 181.1, up from zero. Nine from April and up 2.6% from May 2018. The May index for desserts, cupcakes, and cookies became 292.3, up 0.7% from April and 3.1% from May 2018. Under this segment, other fee indexes protected clean cakes and cupcakes, 317.8, unchanged from April but up 2.8% from May 2018; cookies, 272.9, up 1.3% from the preceding month and up 3.7% from the preceding 12 months.
The CPI for other bakery merchandise in May became 272. Eight, up 1.4% from April and up to three.Three from May 2018. Under this heading, different charge indexes in May covered sparkling sweet rolls, coffee cakes, and donuts, 314.2, up 1.2% from April and up five.4% from May 2018; crackers and cracker products, 310.5, up 2%. Eight from April and up four 5% from May 2018; frozen and refrigerated bakery products, pies, muffins, and turnovers, 272.1, down zero.1% from April but up 0.5% from the preceding 12 months.
